Fashion week events held in Milan and Paris are the most important fashion highlights that are shaping the trends in Europe. This year the famous Milan Fashion Week was held online without the well-known fashion icons on the guests list and without the luxury parties. However, even if it is pandemic, people are still interested in fashion. So, what news were presented by the main figures such as Prada, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana?
Freedom of Prada
Muccia Prada and Raf Simons, designers of the Italian fashion house Prada, presented their latest autumn and winter 2021-2022 collection for women at Milan Fashion Week. This is the third united collection of these designers. Speaking about this collection of women’s clothing for the cold season of 2021–2022, the designers mentioned freedom of the body. The freedom of the body and its energy reflect the freedom to go beyond the bounds of routine, it is reflected in the tight-fitting suits, the naked areas of the body covered with jacquard knits. Body highlighting helps to emphasize action, activity, and light, soft clothes also contribute to it. Folds and ruffles enliven the dresses. Costumes express universal classicism. The cuts allow for an unrestricted glance at the body. Physical freedom reflects ideology.
90’s and Armani
Italian designer Giorgio Armani, looking at the Emporio Armani collection for women and men for 2021 – 2022, looked back to the 1990s, using the brightest colors of the time in his works. The collection was titles as “In the mood for pop”. In a video presented at the virtual Milan Fashion Week, the models of the fashion house, accompanied by club music, stepped on a colored podium, which was decorated with letters of the name of the fashion house shining on the screens.
The collection of women clothes was dominated by wide trousers, elegant jackets, velvet overalls, sloping shoulder jackets and coats, some decorated with large round buttons, others with shiny patterns. There was no lack of velvet and luster in both the blouses and the evening dresses. Accessories became massive necklaces, neck scarves, massive bracelets, hats. The collection of men had fewer colors, dominated by shades of black and gray, loose jackets and trouser suits, large, patterned sweaters, and comfortable casual wear. Also, classic velvet suits.
Disco by Dolce & Gabbana
With the fun atmosphere of a disco style, designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented their collection for the autumn and winter seasons of 2021–2022 in a pre-made movie, thus closing the virtual Milan Fashion Week. The newest collection of 135 models of Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana is dominated by bright colors, leopard patterns, high luster, massive jewelry from chains to pearl necklaces, eye-catching faux fur coats, impressive-looking massive fluffy coats, oversize jackets with large shoulders.
The duo of short dresses and plastic translucent raincoats is reminiscent of space costumes, but there is also an allusion to the protective equipment currently worn by doctors working with coronavirus patients. Two small robots created by the Italian Institute of Technology also appeared on the podium to honor the work of Italian researchers in robotics technology and artificial intelligence. The show ended a six-day virtual Milan Fashion Week.
